A York woman drove through the barricades and crashed into a construction pit at the Spring Grove Route 116 bridge replacement site early Sunday morning, police said.

Lisa A. Myers, 26, was traveling east on Route 116 about 2:30 a.m. when she drove her 2008 Toyota Prius through the construction barricades east of Lehman Road, continuing an 1/8 mile before entering the bridge replacement site, according to a press release from Southwestern Regional Police.

Myers drove over a 30-foot embankment into a pit, where police said she climbed out and walked to a nearby friend's house. The incident was not reported until 10 a.m. this morning.

The vehicle was removed from the pit this morning by the construction company using a large backhoe.

Representatives of the construction company reported no financial loss and no delays to the construction, but said clean-up would take several hours.

Police said charges for leaving the scene of the accident are pending. No injuries were reported from the crash.

It does not appear that the machine operator was being careful with the removal process and I don't blame him

And how the hell did they expect her to report it if she didn't leave? After a 30' drop, she probably couldn't find her phone.

I think the 7 or so hours would be sufficient amount of time to find another phone 'If that was the case"

That amount of time could be enough time to get alot of the alcohol out of your system also. Was she texting that she missed all the warnings? Just thinkin something is not right at all with any of this...

You open the door, the dome light comes on, and then you can see the phone laying in the car to use. You can then also use your portable breathalizer to know how long to stay away from the accident scene.
