I am impressed that the deal that makes the furloughs necessary/possible came from the white house, yet they are able to deftly deflect responsibility on the GOP.

The Ds are much more savvy than the Rs in the PR game.

Layoffs are furloughs, spending is "investing".

Actually you are correct furloughs can be layoffs, but in this case I think they are going to 'furlough' the employees without pay for one day a week for up to 22 weeks. In that usage a furlough would not be a layoff, they would retain their benefits but they would not be able to apply for unemployment.

And cutting spending is done by adding a said amt to farm green cheese on the moon to the budget ,then removing it later.

Bring on the sequester. Government spending is far too inefficient.

Somewhat off the topic of furloughs, but to add to your statement, this was on Drudge tonight:

Firearms Companies Restricting Sales To GOVERNMENT Agencies In Areas That Restrict Gun Rights
February 22, 2013
By Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr

http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/firearms-companies-restricting-sales-government-agencies-areas

A growing number of firearm and firearm-related companies have stated they will no longer sell items to states, counties, cities and municipalities that restrict their citizens' rights to own them.

According to The Police Loophole, 34 companies have joined in publicly stating that governments who seek to restrict 2nd Amendment rights will themselves be restricted from purchasing the items they seek to limit or ban.

Extreme Firepower Inc., located in Inwood, WV has had a longstanding policy that states:

"The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms...If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction."

York Arms, located in Buxton, ME released a statement following new legislation in New York:

"Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York." ( I guess they're saying vaffanculo to you, Governor Stronzo! )

Quality Arms, located in Rigby, ID writes on their website, "elected officials have their own agenda to circumnavigate the truth and destroy the constitution of the United States."

The site states: "Quality Arms Idaho will not supply and firearm or product, manufactured by us, or any other company nor will we warranty, repair, alter, or modify and firearm owned by any State, County or Municipality who infringes on the right of its citizens to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment."

Bravo Company USA states:

"The people at Bravo Company USA and BCM support responsible private individuals having access to the same tools of civilian Law Enforcement to affect the same ends...As such Bravo Company's policy is that law enforcement officials and departments will be restricted to the same type of products available to responsible private individuals of that same city or state."

Bravo to Bravo Company USA and the others. Here is the entire list of patriot companies:

I will let you know how much Hype there is. My son just told me he will be furloughed one day a week. It's only 20% of his pay.
With a family of 6 it could be tough.

It is nothing but scare tactics. The other day Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood was issuing doom prophesies of how commercial aviation would collapse if they had to furlough some air traffic controllers. Funny how Reagan fired every last one of them in 1981 and no serious aviation problems occurred. Air Force controllers took over and got the job done with far fewer people. Stupid union tricks.

Curious on how you came Upon Mitch for Willard Mitt after his father's best friend and hotelier, J. Willard Marriott, plus his father's cousin, Milton "Mitt" Romney, a pro football player who was the quarterback of the Chicago Bears.

Do you refer to Barack as Barry?

I was wondering about that too since "Willard" was the preferred term of disparagement used by his detractors during the campaign. I refer to Barack as "BamBam" because, like Barney Rubble's kid, whenever he doesn't get his way he throws a tantrum, bangs a stick on the ground and yells.
